Graduation Celebration Sale

Megan

Posted on May 13th, 2013

Hellooooo, blog world! The end of college is practically here for me. I’m done with schoolwork and will walk in commencement this Friday! I promise to be back on here very soon to share all the details of what I have planned for the future (hello business expansion!), an update on Half the Sky, and sharing some of my favorite brands. But…until then, I have a HUGE celebration sale planned in honor of my graduation (and jump into full-time business owner)!

The awesome celebration sale includes 4 components:

  • FREE shipping for all orders from today, May 13th, through Thursday, May 16th! Just use code CELEBRATION at checkout to get free priority shipping.
  • All orders over $40 will also receive a FREE pair of Drop of Sparkle Earrings (a $10 value). No code necessary.
  • Flash deals & special, one-of-a-kind items are going to be available throughout the 4 days on my Instagram. Follow me (@meganluvsjewels) or view items on the web & e-mail me to claim an item.
  • Everyone who orders this week will be qualified to win a new, yet-to-be-released Interchangeable Sparkle Necklace. A sneak peek can be seen here. A winner will be announced next Monday, the 20th. (I can’t wait to debut these designs VERY SOON!)

P.S. I *might* have my business cards in GBK’s 2013 Cannes Film Festival Gift Lounge taking place in Cannes, France May 17th-20th. It’s another reason I’m celebrating this week :)

There are soooo many things coming, so I hope you’ll stay tuned Like the Facebook page & sign up for the newsletter to receive all the updates first. For now, enjoy all the freebies and shop until your heart’s content.

Thanks for all the support over the last 4 years! I’m sooooo grateful.

A Step Back

Megan

Posted on April 3rd, 2013

My graduation date is fast approaching (May 17th!). While I am extremely excited, I’m also a *little* overwhelmed with all the school things I have going on between now and May 17th. So, I’m going to be a little MIA until after graduation. I’ll still be filling orders & on social media a little bit, but I need to put school first for next few weeks. I’ll still be attached to my e-mail, so don’t hesitate to contact me!

And, thank you SO MUCH to every single one of you who helped share and support the launch of the Half the Sky pledge. I’m so excited to be giving monthly to such worthy women. For more info about what I’m doing, read this post.

Additionally, please note that my Mother’s Day ordering deadline will be April 15th. I need to have plenty of time to get orders out before school gets too crazy.

Thank you for all the continued support, especially as I’ve balanced school and the business. I’m so grateful!

Half the Sky

Megan

Posted on March 13th, 2013

I turned 22 on March 13th. This year, I’m making a commitment to change lives with my business.

A few months ago, my mom introduced me to Half the Sky, an amazing, heartbreaking, important book and movement. The book shares about the oppression women all over the world are experiencing TODAY, in this modern world. I started following the campaign on Twitter, researched their site, and purchased my own copy of the book.

Shortly after diving into their mission, I realized THIS is how I can change lives with my business. Through their funding site, they help dozens of organizations that help women in countries throughout the world and even in the United States.

As someone who has good education, who has access to resources, who is accepted as a women, who is supported by so many, I NEED to stand up and help the millions of women around the world who do not have these advantages. As Half the Sky explains, if women have the ability and opportunity to make a living, they can rise from oppression, take charge of their lives, and make positive changes for the future generations. There is an amazing documentary as well. It can be found on Netflix Instant, iTunes, or Amazon.

“There is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women.” -Kofi Annan

According to the Half the Sky Movement website, these are the 6 main issues they focus on (click each topic for the info on their site):

  1. Economic Empowerment (something I soooo believe in)
  2. Education (one of the most universal issues world-wide in my opinion)
  3. Forced Prostitution (a serious issue, especially in the book)
  4. Gender-Based Violence (a harsh reality)
  5. Maternal Mortality (something that can easily be avoid with modern healthcare)
  6. Sex Trafficking (a growing form of organized crime)
Crazy. Scary. True Facts from the Book:
  •  “It appears that more girls have been killed in the last fifty years, precisely because they were girls, than men were killed in all the battles of the twentieth century.” (pg. xvii, Half the Sky)
  • “Our own estimate is that there are 3 million women and girls (and a very small number of boys) worldwide who can be fairly termed enslaved in the sex trade.” (pg. 10, Half the Sky)
  • “America’s schools rarely convey much understanding of the 2.7 billion people (40 percent of the world’s population) who today live on less that $2 a day.” (pg, 21, Half the Sky)
I’m explaining everything below, but I’ve created a video so I can actually “speak” about my passion for these issues:

So, how does this fit in to my business?
10% of all sales, every month, will be donated to the movement. I will put the money towards one or more of their various “teams”/charities every month. This is something that I feel completely good about. I’m excited that I can give back a little bit from my good fortune to those who are trying to improve their lives. Additionally, I plan to post monthly updates on the blog about where the money is going.
I’m so inspired by the bravery of these women. I want to help bless them with the chance for a better life.
I urge you to read the book, or at least read their site, and get informed. Women in America sometimes forget about the lack of opportunities and freedom that so many women in this world experience. If you have been wanting to purchase from my shop, this is the time to do it. You can get something sparkly for yourself and 10% will go to the movement! If you can’t shop right now, please retweet or share about Half the Sky. I’m so excited to use my birthday as a launch day for this exciting promise!
***A fun update: I was featured on the Half the Sky blog after they heard what I was doing! Read the interview here.***

A New Kind of Collaboration

Megan

Posted on March 4th, 2013

If you follow on Twitter or Facebook, you know that I was recently asked to work on a private label line for a big local yoga studio. The owners wanted a line for their retail shop that could be exclusively for them and was yoga-themed. After many sketches, hours of playing with materials, and days of creating, I’ve come up with about 20 designs for their unique line. I thought it would be fun to share some of the highlights of the line today!

As you can tell, the line features typical yoga symbols and the chakra colors, features of their yoga studio. While these designs were done exclusively for the studio, e-mail me (megan at flawedperfectionjewelry dot com) and we can discuss a similar design. Also, if you are interested in a private line for your retail store, company, or special event, contact me and we can discuss details.

Dreaming of #SnapConf

Megan

Posted on February 25th, 2013

Last year, I loved SNAP Conference. I had amazing roomies, learned amazing things, and loved seeing Utah! Unfortunately, with this being my last semester, my schedule is just wayyyy to crazy for me to fit in the conference this April. However, as a little gift to all those going, I’m offering this awesome promo (I would have waited to post this, but school is so crazy that I need to get the promo started before I’m at my busiest):

Yep, you read that right. I’m giving 20% off to SNAP Conference attendees! Want a fun way to market your blog while your meeting everyone & attending parties? Pick a Swarovski design from the shop & I’ll help you decide on the exact color combo that work for your blog. (There are like 80 colors, FYI.)

And, the added bonus? I LOVE customized color combos so much that I want to share them all here on the blog. Once I’ve filled all the orders & sent them off, I would love to share pictures of blog headers with the completed designs that match. I want to link to YOU.

If you are interested in a blog-colored design, you are welcome to e-mail me & we can chat colors & designs. Don’t hesitate to e-mail me with any questions you have about this promotion. If you already know what design interests you, you are welcome to purchase the design & then I’ll send an e-mail to chat colors.

I’m so, so, so grateful for all my customers & especially the support I get from the blogging community. This is my little way of getting to live vicariously through all of you that are able to go ;)

P.S. Please order by March 20th if you want your design to be there in time for you to attend the conference.
